Continuing Education Opportunities

All licensees are required to complete a minimum of 24 contact hours of continuing education and competency activities during the 2 year period preceding the application for renewal.  A licensee who obtains a license for the first time in WV during the first twelve months of any 24 month reporting period shall complete 12 contact hours before the end of the current reporting period.

It is the responsibility of the licensee to assure that the selected courses meet his or her individual needs to maintain knowledge of occupational therapy theory and practice.  Core job specific requirements of your chosen industry of occupational therapy DO NOT count toward continuing competency requirements for licensure renewal.  Examples include CPR, first aid training, documentation courses, ethics courses, and training in coding, billing or payment systems.

This service is being provided as a resource for continuing education opportunities. Courses listed are not necessarily endorsed by the WV Board of Occupational Therapy.   Licensees should refer to Legislative Rule §13-4 regarding Continuing Education and Competency requirements for further information.
